ILI MEDICAL INTERPRETER SCHOLARSHIP

Certification Scholarship

The ILI Medical Interpreter Scholarship was created in 2023 to help Latino college students who would like to pursue medical interpreter training.

This scholarship opportunity is for passionate Latino college students who aspire to make a difference in the healthcare industry. It aims to empower and support Latino students in their pursuit of becoming medical interpreters through the nationally-recognized Bridging the Gap (BTG) training.

The ILI Medical Interpreter Scholarship will help fill the role that medical interpreters play in facilitating effective communication between healthcare professionals and Latino patients, helping address the language barrier that often exists within healthcare settings.

ILI Medical Interpreter Scholarship applications are accepted throughout the year on a rolling basis.

ILI ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

Annual Scholarship

ILI awards need and merit-based scholarships to graduating high school senior and current undergraduate and graduate college students who show academic excellence and community service involvement and are attending a college or university in Indiana.

Preference is given to applicants who are Latino first-generation college students and students who do not qualify for government aid. Scholarship recipients are selected by an outside committee. The ILI Academic Scholarship was created as a means to address the under-representation of Latinos in post-secondary education. The goal is to encourage Latino students in Indiana to pursue higher education and engage in community service.

Application materials must be submitted online by May 31, 2024.

ALIVIO MEDICAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship has become one of the main highlights of Alivio’s commitment to the community during its 20th Anniversary Celebration.

The Alivio Medical Center Scholarship is an annual, merit-based competition offered to undergraduate or graduate students that focuses on rewarding ambitious, driven, goal-oriented individuals with majors related to the medical field.

ILI PROMISE SCHOLARSHIP

Full-Tuition Scholarships

Each year, the Indiana Latino Institute (ILI) hosts a Higher Education Consortium, a discussion with university presidents, chancellors, and leaders from across the state to collaborate on Latino student enrollment, retention, and completion.

Through this initiative, ILI created agreement proposals with 23 universities and colleges across the state requesting 2 full-tuition scholarships to be given each year for 5 years to Indiana Latino program participants creating the first of its kind, the ILI Promise Scholars Program. These scholarships cover the cost of tuition for 4 years and prioritize students who are in great financial need.

Eligibility changes based on each university’s requirements and guidelines, and students must be enrolled in ILI’s College Prep program for one full year in high school before applying for the scholarships. Additionally, ILI Promise Scholars must maintain enrollment in ILI’s College Coaching through college to keep their scholarship.

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be enrolled into ILI’s College Prep (College Coaching) Program for a full year prior to applying to colleges.
