HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS

The Indiana Latino Institute works with high school students statewide to increase access to higher education.  From one-on-one college coaching, internships, scholarships, and presentations and events, ILI provides resources to ensure students are informed and prepared to continue their education.

There are opportunities for high school students at all grade levels, freshman to seniors, to get involved and receive support from our College Access team.

We encourage you to check out the resources below to find how ILI can support you on your way to college success.

COLLEGE PREP (COLLEGE COACHING)

ILI works with high school students across Indiana to assess student and family needs, address barriers, and identify and focus on strengths. ILI helps high school students navigate the college application process, financial aid, and career exploration and provides referrals to general social service agencies for other needs.

FIRST YEAR EMPLOYMENT

For students looking to gain an introduction to the professional workforce. The FYE program places students who are in between their final year of high school and their first year of college in internships for 125 years over the summer. ILI provides students with a $1,000 scholarship upon completion of the program.

PATHWAYS TO CAREERS (P2C)

For students accepted to IUPUI, Ivy Tech Indianapolis, or Marian University. ILI will provide support services, professional and academic guidance, and activities created to foster success for participants throughout their higher education. Paid professional development and mentoring will also be provided.

ILI PROMISE SCHOLARS

ILI created agreement proposals with 23 universities and colleges across the state requesting 2 full-tuition scholarships to be given each year for 5 years to Indiana Latino program participants creating the first of its kind, the ILI Promise Scholars Program. These scholarships cover the cost of tuition for 4 years and prioritize students who are in great financial need.

EDUCATION SUMMIT

The Education Summit provides 4,500 Latino high school students with information related to college applications, scholarships, and financial aid. Participants have the opportunity to interact with Indiana higher education institutions and explore career paths. This free event is hosted in South Bend, Indianapolis, and Evansville.

ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS

ILI awards need and merit-based scholarships to graduating high school senior and current undergraduate and graduate college students who show academic excellence and community service involvement. Preference is given to applicants who are Latino first-generation college students and students who do not qualify for government aid.
