Location: Marion County, Indiana (with statewide program involvement)

Position Overview
The Youth Empowerment Coordinator will oversee and implement ILI’s youth empowerment initiatives, focusing on tobacco prevention, healthy lifestyle promotion, and leadership development. This role involves coordinating Voice Clubs at high schools, managing university programs, leading statewide campaigns, and fostering student engagement across Marion County and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead ILI’s Tobacco Prevention and Cessation (TPC) programming, ensuring effectiveness and alignment with evidence-based strategies.
- Attend and actively participate in three monthly coalition meetings, bringing back insights to guide program initiatives.
- Oversee and mentor Voice Clubs at high schools including Chispus Attucks and Warren Central High School. Deliver club meetings according to school schedules (2–3 times per month). Expand to five fully established clubs by the 2025–2026 school year, while maintaining the partnership with Marian University.
- Organize and facilitate ILI Action Squad programs, connecting students with Adult Allies and leadership opportunities.
- Host statewide student meetings and develop culturally relevant outreach strategies, particularly in Marion County.
- Represent ILI at community events, health fairs, and workshops, promoting tobacco prevention and healthy living.
- Develop and manage university student programs, including the “Quit It, U!!” initiative at Marian University.
- Create engaging, culturally relevant social media content, including posts for ILI-Voice accounts, to connect with students.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports using the pre-designed ILI template, tracking program activities and student engagement.
- Implement programs such as “Breathe: Healthy Steps to Living Tobacco-Free”, collaborating with health education professionals.
- Apply CDC best practices and evidence-based strategies to reduce tobacco use and secondhand smoke exposure.
- Design and facilitate workshops for students on tobacco, vaping, mental health, and wellness, and advocate for tobacco-free policies.
Qualifications
- Passion for youth empowerment, healthy living, and community engagement
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to build partnerships with schools, students, and university stakeholders
- Creativity, energy, and initiative to develop engaging programs and campaigns
- Experience with youth programs, social media engagement, or health education preferred
- Take ownership of the work.

About the Program: College Access Program
The Indiana Latino Institute (ILI) works with high school students to assess student and family needs, address barriers, and identify strengths. The College Access Program supports students in navigating the college admissions process, financial aid, and career exploration, while connecting them to relevant community resources. Education Specialists work closely with students and their families to guide them toward post-secondary success.
Position Overview
The Education Specialist is responsible for providing direct support to high school students and their families through comprehensive college and career readiness services. This role focuses on empowering youth, reducing barriers, and ensuring students have the tools, knowledge, and guidance needed to succeed beyond high school.
Key Responsibilities:
Student & Family Engagement
- Conduct intake meetings with students and parents/guardians
- Provide ongoing advising and individualized support plans
- Maintain consistent communication and follow-up with students and families
- Deliver guidance on college and career exploration
- Support students and families in completing college applications and financial aid forms
- Provide culturally and linguistically responsive services
- Deliver presentations to schools, community organizations, and families in both English and Spanish
College & Career Readiness
- Guide students through:
- College applications and admissions processes
- FAFSA and financial aid completion
- Scholarship opportunities
- Career exploration pathways
- Support SAT/ACT registration, essay review, and academic planning
Program Implementation, Educator Support & Outreach
- Support open enrollment and student onboarding throughout the year
- Assist with statewide initiatives and program activities
- Promote scholarship opportunities and student engagement
- Support educators with events, presentations, and community engagement activities, including tabling events and workshops
Barrier Reduction & Resource Connection
- Identify challenges impacting student success
- Provide referrals to community and social service resources
- Connect students with educational resources and supports to ensure high school graduation and successful transition to college
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field
- Experience working with youth and families
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience working with Latino or underserved communities
- Knowledge of college access systems (FAFSA, SAT/ACT, college applications)
