EDUCATION PROGRAM SPECIALIST
Through the College Access component of the ILI Education Program, the Education Specialist works directly with Latino high school students to increase the college and career readiness and access to higher education opportunities. The Education Specialist assists in other areas of the overall components of the Education Program – College Success, Workforce Development and Systems Change.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for the Education Program Specialist will possess the following qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in education, higher education, social work or related field such as youth services
- Experience with case management, higher education with student support services, working collaboratively with community-based organizations and diverse communities, and managing and conducting community education and outreach
- Two years or more of experience working with adolescents and young adults
- Knowledgeable on financial aid and professional development opportunities for college students
- Strong skills in planning, delegation, critical thinking and organization
- Non-profit work experience preferred
- Experience in using Salesforce, the CRM customer service platform ILI uses to manage and collect client data
- Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license and meet state required automobile insurance minimums
- Available to work evenings, early mornings, and weekends when events are scheduled
- Travel to schools and other sites throughout Indiana for presentations, meetings and events
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Able to carry boxes and equipment, not more than 40 lbs

- Demonstrates the ability to take the initiative on developing creative and innovative methods for
outreach.
PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific duties and essential skills for this position include:
College Access (high school students)
- Implement all aspects of College Coaching high school students through the College Access aspect of the Education Program
- Meet with students and parents to conduct initial assessments and create action plans; conduct ongoing follow up meetings and home visits as needed
- Provide students with information to assist with access to educational and career resources
- Organize and execute workshops/presentations for students and parents
College Success
- Recruit participants for ILI Scholarship(s)
- Recruit or transition participants from high school to the College Success, college coaching program
Workforce Development (internships)
- Recruit students to participate in the First Year Employment Exploration Internship Program
Education Summit
- Assist with planning of annual Education Summit
- Promote the Education Summit through high schools
Reporting
- Maintain adequate safeguards for privacy and confidentiality of participants’ information
- Assist Program Director with the completion of grant reports
- Assist Program Director by providing creative approaches to promoting and facilitation of program initiatives and events
Marketing/Promotion/Communication
- Partner with high schools and community partners to promote the ILI Education Programs
- Engage all program participants to effectively build a connection with the organization
- Prepare Newsletter for high school students
- Promote all aspects of the programs through social media

- Perform other duties as assigned
