College & Workforce Development Coordinator – Job Description

COLLEGE & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
The combined efforts of College Access, College Success, Workforce Development and Systems Change comprise the ILI Education Program. Together these components create a pathway to success for Indiana Latino high school students to college and into the workplace.

The College & Workforce Development Coordinator works directly with college bound or current college students under College Success using an individual action plan to increase application, retention, and completion rates in higher education for Latino college students, and non-traditional students. The College & Workforce Development Coordinator assists in other areas of the overall components of the Education Program such as Workforce Development, coordinating summer internships for incoming and current college students. This role also includes coordinating professional development opportunities and community site visits.
 
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate for the Education Program Specialist will possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in education, higher education, social work or related field such as youth services
  • Experience with case management, higher education with student support services, working collaboratively with community-based organizations and diverse communities, and managing and conducting community education and outreach
  • Three years or more of experience working with young adults (college students)
  • Knowledgeable on financial aid and professional development opportunities for college students
  • Strong skills in planning, delegation, critical thinking and organization
  • Non-profit work experience preferred
  • Experience in using Salesforce, the CRM customer service platform ILI uses to manage and collect client data
  • Workforce development experience with activities that connect individuals with skills building opportunities
  • Available to work evenings, early mornings, and weekends when events are scheduled
  • Travel to schools and other sites throughout Indiana for presentations, meetings and events
  • Able to carry boxes and equipment, not more than 40 lbs

    outreach.

 
PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Specific duties and essential skills for this position include:
 
College Success (college students)

  • Implement all aspects of College Coaching through the College Success aspect of the Education Program
  • Meet with students to conduct initial assessments and create action plans; conduct ongoing follow up meetings and in person visits as needed
  • Provide students with information to assist with access to educational and career resources
  • Organize and execute workshops/presentations for students

 
Scholarships

  • Recruit participants for Scholarships
  • Coordinate meetings and communications for the selection process of ILI scholarships
  • Select a scholarship review committee
  • Review and disseminated scholarship applications
  • Manage communications with applicants for ILI scholarships
  • Create social medial promotion of selected scholarship winner

 
Workforce Development (internships)

  • Recruit students to participate in the First Year Employment Exploration Internship Program
  • Conduct application review meetings will student applicants
  • Recruit internship sites
  • Coordinate activities and communications involved in preparing and executing the summer internship program
  • Represent ILI at community and education events
  • Conduct educational presentations to college/universities, organizations, and other Latino serving institutions

 
College & Career Fair (Education Summit)

  • Assist with planning of annual College & Career Fair

 
Reporting

  • Maintain adequate safeguards for privacy and confidentiality of participants’ information
  • Assist Program Director with the completion of grant reports
  • Assist Program Director by providing creative approaches to promoting and facilitation of program initiatives and events

 
Marketing/Promotion/Communication

  • Partner with universities/colleges administrators to promote the ILI Education Programs
  • Engage all program participants to effectively build a connection with the organization
  • Prepare Newsletter for college students
  • Create social media content and promote all aspects of the programs through social media

 
Other

  • Perform other duties as assigned
